Lithium Ion is a battery theming engine that uses small (~1kb) JavaScript theme files to generate the icon on-the-fly rather than storing and loading hundreds of images on disk.
This method leads to an incredibly dynamic system where options can be changed and applied instantly without modifying any images.
More than 20 themes are included and many more can be made by anyone with basic programming knowledge.

A tutorial for creating themes will be available shortly however Carlos Liam has a tutorial available here for the original Lithium which is a great starting point and only needs a few modifications to make it "Ion" compatible.
To take full advantage, the themes now accept 7 arguments-
Height, Percentage, isCharging, isLow, isLPM, fillColor[r,g,b], baseColor[r,g,b,a]
All existing Lithium themes will work with Lithium Ion but do not take full advantage of the engine and will need to be updated to be placed in the correct directory. Theme enthusiasts can even bundle custom 'Profiles' that can be applied along with themes.
